Understanding Narcissistic Extroverts at workplace
Every employee, especially millennials, expect appreciation even for their BAU work. Sometimes managers get lost in their zones, they forget who to appreciate. Most of the times, extroverts tend to be getting all the appreciations. Even though the manager might not consider it as a concern, some introverts become disappointed because of this behaviour.
While extroverts are an essential part of a diversified resource pool, it is crucial to identify narcissistic extroverts to eliminate toxic behaviour, just like identifying cancer cells. A weak manager tends to fall for such extroverts, and they only realise the impact when it's already too late.
Introverts easily identify narcissistic extroverts. However, they hardly attempt to overcome them since they are not designed for the task. In most cases, introverts are the driving forces of a team since they most likely to be carrying the weight of a process while extroverts act in a way that they take the most of the weight.
Managers need to have a sense of identification of his/her line reports, so any toxic behaviour won't be motivated.
